The Florence, Kentucky, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Camden Hunter, a 12-year-old boy who became the second victim of a fatal traffic collision that occurred on July 6 in Boone County.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Camden died on July 13 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital after succumbing to injuries he sustained in the crash. His death comes one week after the collision and follows the earlier passing of another victim, Shirley Hadden, who also died from injuries suffered in the accident.
Investigators said the crash occurred when Hadden, who was driving a Honda Fit, attempted to make a left turn from a parking lot onto Industrial Road. Authorities reported that her vehicle entered the path of an oncoming car, resulting in a serious collision.
Camden Hunter was a passenger in the Honda Fit along with Hadden and a 70-year-old passenger. Following the crash, emergency responders transported all of the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Shirley Hadden later died from the injuries she sustained in the collision. Camden remained hospitalized at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital until his passing on July 13.
Officials said the 70-year-old passenger in the Honda Fit and the driver of the other vehicle both suffered serious injuries. However, authorities expect both individuals to recover.
The death of Camden Hunter has left his family, friends, classmates, and the wider Florence community grieving the loss of a young life taken far too soon. As loved ones mourn, many are remembering him with love while offering prayers and support to those affected by the tragedy.
